Planning a family friendly trek to Gatlang

Now the homestay is 97% ready we can start looking to the future and plan some awesome treks.  For me, it’s really important that we spend time together as a family, that’s why we are putting together this family friendly trek along the tamang Heritage Trail.  It ticks so many boxes, it is quiet yet not isolated, it is close to Kathmandu so is really accessible, the terrain is achievable for our 6 year old, the views are stunning, and….. there’s hot springs!  As we confirm details of the trek we will release more information.  It is my dream to have a cool gang of families trekking together and enjoying an adventure with each other along the trail then gathering at our house and hanging out for a couple of days in our welcoming village.  Really looking forward to filling our home with the sounds of happy guests.  Til then, keep in touch and have a look at these lovely photos to whet your appetite for adventure!

For those of you who’ve asked about the homestay…here’s our house! Welcome to Pandey Gau Ganesh Homestay! Totally rebuilt in earthquake proof materials and design. The previous home-built from natural materials by Nawaraj’s family- was totally destroyed in the quake. In these photos you can see the main 4 bedroom block with balcony and veranda, kitchen and dining area, toilet and shower block, and our most recent addition- Ganesh temple. Having a temple in the village is especially important to the elderly as now they don’t have to walk far to make Puja. Its positive to see homestay interacting with community like this because that’s what it’s all about for us! Any questions please keep asking. We’re planning the garden next, any ideas for herbs you’d like to be able to cook with when you visit let me know and I’ll see if it’s possible to plant them.
